MARINE POLLUTION BY OIL

The petroleum oil poured at sea constitutes a significant andalarming pollution on a total scale. Knowing that the fifth of the production comes from the layers offshore oil rigs, of the accidents occur during the extraction and the transport of hydrocarbons. One estimates at six million tons per annum the quantity of hydrocarbons introduced into the oceans by the human activity what constitutes consequently a fundamental cause of the pollution of the oceans.

Knowing that one estimates at 6 million tons of hydrocarbons introduced every year into the oceans and that a ton cancover approximately a surface with 12 square kilometres;   the oceans are thus contaminated in a quasi permanent way by a hydrocarbon film. This pollution has pernicious effects on thealive resources and one showed a fall of the photosynthetic activity of the algae and phytoplankton.
